GT eForms 3.70.00 Release Announcement
We are very excited to share that the GT eForms 3.70.00
release is here! It brings 7 enhancements, including a couple long-awaited and highly anticipated features like eForms Assistant and Configurable CI. Additionally, based on client feedback received at conferences earlier this year, we included one more big feature which we call Query View Builder.
Besides enhancements, 3.70.00
also includes 24 fixes to improve stability and reliability, including two new views that help easily identify visual ifs and segments that are shared between form types. They will make it much easier to avoid making changes on one form that inadvertently affect behavior on another form.
The complete 3.70.00 Release Notes can be found here.

Configurable CI
In GT eForms building, Component Interfaces (CIs) have long been one of the last strongholds of developer-only work -- typically demanding custom PeopleCode and full technical builds from the ground up. But with the 3.70.00
release, that barrier is coming down. Functional users can now take the reins and configure many CI transactions entirely on their own, no custom coding required. And for the more complex cases that still need custom technical work, developers can jump in and extend what's already been configured -- no need to start a technical CI from scratch.
Query View Builder
Since 3.58.00
, GT eForms has supported queries for powering data population and propagation -- but using them to control prompt and dropdown fields? That’s been off the table, until now. With 3.70.00
, that limitation is lifted. The new Query View Builder allows functional users to build queries just like they always have, then convert them into SQL view definitions in just a few clicks. From there, those views can be plugged directly into the data pool for prompt and dropdown fields -- no developer time needed, at least for most cases.
Note: We learned of some quirks around migrating views built with this tool right before publishing
3.70.00
. We will be releasing a fix for these quirks very soon. Reach out to support@gideontaylor.com when you are ready to migrate and we will get you the fix and/or help you appropriately.
Improved Build Performance
We announced improved build performance in 3.58.04
but, unfortunately, learned there were limitations in our testing that led us to believe the improvements were better than they actually were. This being the case, we revisited build performance in 3.70.00
and made very significant progress, especially on forms that currently experience long build times. One client had a form taking 11 hours to build before applying these changes; their form now builds in ~16 minutes. That's a 98% improvement!
Most forms will not experience this much improvement, but we do anticipate that most will experience at least some improvement, particularly those with lots of pages and page visual ifs. In our UAT cycle, we tested build performance on 7 separate form types. The average improvement between them was ~25%.
Shared Object Identification
Until now, it has been really hard to know if a visual if or segment is being reused on another form. This release includes two new views that make it easy to identify these shared object types across forms. Now you can check before you make a change -- avoiding surprises and broken logic.
Additionally, these views will help prevent situations where the removal of a shared visual if or segment on one form will result in its deletion after migrating a form with the Form Transporter. It will be possible to identify the shared config before migration such that proper handling can occur proactively.
Note: The Form Transporter documentation details how to prevent the removal of shared form config from resulting in deletion of the config on another form when migrating.
Planning to Apply the Service Pack
This release must be applied on top of any 3.58.xx
version. If you’re on an earlier release, you’ll need to upgrade to 3.58.00
first. The upgrade package and instructions are available in the Online GT Library > Documents > Framework Updates > 3.x > R3.70.00.
We recommend applying the upgrade in a development environment and running a testing cycle(s) before moving to production. Our support team is here to assist you with any questions or concerns: support@gideontaylor.com.
